Katniss Everdeen lives in District 12 of Panem with her mother and younger sister Prim (Primrose). Every year every girl and boy from each district (1 to 12) has to enter their names into the reaping ball, and one girl and one boy from each district has to be chosen to go into the hunger games to fight to the death. The only reason they have to do this is so that everyone is reminded just how powerful the Capitol is. I really like this book because it is not a typical sci-fi book. I also think that it is really well written and very good for boys and girls from about 10 to 14.

I have read the trilogy and agree that this is a gripping and thought-provoking story. It encourages the reader to think about how we are affecting our planet's future. Are future generations doomed to live in a world like Panem - Just one nuclear bomb away from an uninhabitable planet?
