At the Sign of the Sugared Plum by Mary Hooper

I found this book very emotional because the girl in the book called Hannah suffers to see her new friends in London die of the Great Plague but her friend tells her one wish to do for her after she dies. To take care of her mistress's baby daughter and take her out of London. The plague was caught from a cook who served her mistress and stayed at the house. Hannah feels that she shouldn’t have came to London to help her sister with her sweet shop called The Sugared Plum. But Hannah did not receive the letter that her sister gave her which said "Do not come Hannah it's far too Dangerous the plague is on its way.".

At the end Hannah does her friend's wish and takes the baby who had became an orphan after the master and mistress's death with her sister out of London. This book makes me feel upset that there is now a cure for the plague and all those people who passed away because of the lack of cleanness they had in those times and Hannah had to suffer a lot.

  1. This book is awesome! Have you read the sequel
'Petals in the ashes'? That's great too!
