The Gone series by Michael Grant

Gone; Hunger; Lies (Book 4 is being written)

Everyone over the age of 15 suddenly disappears, and the children begin developing mutant powers. Life is hard without adults and children are taking advantage of it. Someone has to take charge, but who? In the second book, food is running out, and people are becoming desperate as starvation kicks in. More and more strange powers are developing and so are the animals... I'm not normally interested in books such as this, however when you start reading it you can't stop, it’s addictive and very suspenseful. The author creates an atmosphere of desperation, yet brotherliness, which is interesting. The books have everything that most people want and you get so engrossed it's hard to put it down. It consists of adventure, romance and fantasy. That is why I think this book is good.

  1. I would certainly recommend Gone as a exciting teenage book.
My favourite character is Astrid Ellison because, firstly she looks and acts exactly like me and secondly, she has a little brother called Peter/Pete Ellison (I have a little brother called Peter (or Pete) and he is 5 or 6 years old! From Grace Carey 7H
